Important Information and Warning

The vitamin and supplement industry is a large one and unfortunately there are several unscrupulous ‘businesses’ who look to take advantage of people with misleading marketing approaches.

We feel it is important you are made aware of such exploitative marketing ploys which aim to extract money from trusting customers.

One misleading marketing tactic at the moment is for a product called ‘Garcinia Cambogia’ which is a well known product associated with losing weight.

This particular offer of a free trial of Garcinia Cambogia appears on legitimate websites and is not illegal. However, several of these kinds of sites appear from time to time and they hook the customer in with a free trail offer but are not upfront about later costs involved. Sometimes they ask you to pay for postage of perhaps £4.95 but on the face of it, you do appear to be getting a free trial or free sample of an apparently valuable product.

Read the Terms and Conditions!

However, it is further down in the small print, or even on a different website page, where terms and conditions can often say something along the lines of:

“By buying Garcinia Cambogia, you are agreeing to a risk-free 14 day trial. That trial will be delivered within 3-5 business days. You have 14 days from the date of order to test the product and assess its benefits. If you like your free trial, then no action is required on your part. After the 14 day trial period is over, you will automatically be signed up for our Garcinia Cambogia Program. You will be charged £89.99 for the full-sized trial you already received. Then, 30 days after your initial date of purchase, you’ll be charged an additional £89.99 plus £4.95 shipping and handling.”

The key line here is: 'if you like your free trial, then no action is required..' which basically means if you do not cancel the process, you will be charged any amount of money tied to the plan.

Yet people very often do not read the terms and conditions, which is what presentation relies on.

Therefore, the customer has unwittingly signed up to something they did not want and discover further down the line that money continues to be taken from their account.

At Supplement Place we DO NOT sell Garcinia Cambogia so we are NOT in a position to verify whether the product itself works or not. There are many reputable companies who sell Garcinia Cambogia so please ensure you look carefully at the product and offer being made to you.

Please look carefully at the terms and conditions of any free trial or free sample offer you are presented with.

Be Aware of Unwanted and Repeated Charges at a Later Date !

At Supplement Place, we will NEVER ask you to sign up for free trial which incurs costs further down the line. If any company does do that, please be aware you may discover unwanted and repeated charges at a later date.

There is nothing illegal about this free trial marketing tactic, with hidden payments stated in the terms and conditions.

However, we believe it to be hugely unethical so please be aware of the practice if you are not already familiar with such disreputable techniques.

Thank you from the team at Supplement Place.
