The Benefits of Ginkgo Biloba
Ginkgo is native to Asia and is one of the longest living tree species in the world. It has been used for thousands of years for its health benefits. It is now used to improve brain function, particularly memory and concentration. It is one of the few substances with the ability to cross the blood/brain barrier so it can directly benefit the brain. Ginkgo contributes to normal blood circulation and may be helpful for age-related brain disorders. It has been used to help conditions such as:
- Cognition / brain function
- Memory loss
- Blood circulation
- Macular degeneration
- High cholesterol
- Pre-Menstrual Syndrome
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Lyme disease
There are some very beneficial compounds in Ginkgo, including a variety of Flavonglycosides, but there is also a very toxic one - Ginkgolic Acid. Our extract is manufactured to contain a minimum of 28.5mg of Flavonglycosides and less than 5 parts per million of Ginkgolic Acid. So don't just compare the price of your Ginkgo Biloba capsules, make sure they have enough Flavonglycosides to be effective and no more than 5 ppm Ginkgolic Acid.
Don't make the mistake of thinking that Ginkgo tea is as good for you as tablets, there are such tiny amounts of Flavonglycosides in the leaves and there is no way of telling how much Ginkgolic Acid is in it that, at best, it will have no benefit and, at worst, it could be very toxic.
Compared to a popular high street brand, our Ginkgo is more concentrated, a purer extract and much better value.
