Baobab "Tree of Life"
Known as the “Tree of Life”, the baobab tree has held important significance in Africa for centuries. The baobab tree is a symbol of sustenance and life due its adaption to the harsh arid climate. The tree is a succulent, meaning that during the rainy season the Baobab tree absorbs and stores water in it’s trunk, which then produces the nutrient-rich fruit, known as "monkey bread" in the dry season. Baobab trees can live up to 3,000 years and can grow to 25 metres high!
